I believe the main issue with these games' stochastic rendering is how they randomize sample points each frame. In RE4, shadows appear smoother when you move around, but they become grainy when stationary. If the sampling were randomized, techniques like TAA/FSR2/DLSS could leverage data from previous frames to smooth shadow transitions.
