It's fine to focus on seated and standing activities. This idea isn't helpful because it doesn't offer a similar experience.
Have you explored VR yourself? The contrast isn’t even close. Of course, it could be a nice experience, but the original chose VR, and this wouldn’t even match it so...
I've talk to plenty of people who wanted VR for the 'wrong' reasons only to realize what they really wanted was something more aligned to what I said in order to improve immersion and gaming experience quality. I am well aware of what VR really is, reason why I stay away from it, no less I'm not saying any thing against it, if OP really wants the actual VR experience than by all means go for it I'm not gate keeping or anything but totally attempt to discredit a valid input is never a nice thing to do. OP's just facing common issues with the "actual VR experience" which is lack of space, if he has no way to make room for it then the experience falls apart but there's still one way around at least retaining high levels of comfort and immersion which was what I said even if it doesn't translate perfectly.
I have my Vive installed in my bedroom and use it regularly. My bed is made of a wooden frame with a mattress so it stays warm. When I want to play in VR, I lean it against the wall. Moving it is quick, but putting on the headset takes longer.
