My computer is quite powerful for this game but it doesn't run smoothly at all. At 2560x1440 it reaches around 600-800 frames per second, though every 10 to 30 seconds it drops to about 15-50 fps. Frame times increase to 50ms and the frame rate stays capped around 360 fps while I usually see it limited to 60 fps. I've tried many online solutions but nothing seems to help. It makes me think something might be wrong with my GPU. I ran benchmarks on Heavens at 2560x1440 and got a maximum of 450 fps and a minimum of 10 fps (not overclocked).

Details about the hardware:
- Aorus X570 Pro
- AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
- G.Skill 2x16 GB 3200 Mhz RAM
- Radeon RX6800XT
- Corsair 1000W PSU
- Samsung 980pro M.2 SSD
(CPU and GPU are custom watercooled)
Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks.

What is the maximum frame rate of your monitor? I see little reason that your frame rate cap should be so high.

its 2560x1440
@240hz
I used Samsung G7 but I set it to 360 because, when I increase the frame rate to 240fps it often drops below 240, which feels a bit choppy. It doesn’t really matter, but it’s not smooth. Going to 360fps is the next level in settings, though it still causes stuttering when trying different resolutions. The only improvement so far is closing other background apps, which slightly reduces the stuttering.

I'm dealing with a pretty similar issue on a very comparable GPU...
My display is the DELL S2721DGFA, featuring a 2560 x 1440 resolution at 165Hz.
I also use Rocket League at 360Hz since that's the only setting where the game runs smoothly!
I don't understand why, but when I set the frame rate to 165fps (which should be optimal for this 165Hz screen), the game no longer feels fluid. In certain scenarios it seems like the frame rate drops sharply to around 60 or lower, without any clear pattern.
Additionally, I notice that every 10 seconds (sometimes more frequently or less often) the frames switch from a consistent 360fps to something like 30, 50, or 70.
During gameplay, my CPU stays under 15-20% load while my GPU operates between 60-80% utilization.
Another observation:
When I enable Freesync and Enhanced Sync, the game caps at about 75fps for some reason.
Playing with just Freesync works smoothly at 360fps (with occasional frame lag spikes) and becomes choppy at 240 or 165fps (again with lag spikes).
Playing with both Freesync and Enhanced Sync OFF seems to resolve the issue completely.
Also, when I enable Freesnyc on the monitor settings and Freesync is turned off in Radeon Controll Center, it still appears as if Freesync is active. Only when I disable Freesync in the monitor's settings does it actually turn off Freesync!
So to sum up... I'm not sure... maybe someone has already found a solution for this ****... if you know, please let me know!
😀
Rocket League is the only game I really focus on, but if I can't fix this, I'll lose interest...
🙁

No worries, I don’t really have a solution.
There’s one thing you might try that actually worked for me, though it isn’t a long-term fix. Just start Windows in clean boot mode and see if that helps.
You can find more details here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-w...7a1807f3dd
After much research and contacting support, I even changed some hardware, but nothing resolved the issue.
It seems unrelated to the Radeon GPU—I’ve switched to a 3080 and the same problem persists.
The CPU might be the cause since we’re both using Ryzen, but I won’t change it.
This issue could also stem from the game engine, as the game uses Unreal Engine 3, which was released in 2007.
I just hope the problem gets fixed when Rocketleague moves to Unreal Engine 5.
(But that will take some time)

Thank you for your response! I plan to start with a clean boot and check if it improves things.
It's disappointing to learn about the problem with a 3080.
I might try borrowing a Ryzen 7 5800X from a friend to see if that helps.
Appreciate all the support!
