I’m experiencing performance issues like stuttering in video games when I increase the screen resolution.
Hello,
Here are my computer specifications:
Dell i7 7700k processor (4.2 GHz) with 24GB of RAM, running Windows 10.
I have a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card (6 GB).
My display is a 28" Samsung UHD LED monitor.
I’ve owned this PC for over a year and purchased it primarily for music production alongside gaming.
Regardless of how recent the game, I consistently experience significant lag when playing at higher resolutions. While adjusting graphical settings like VSync, anti-aliasing, and framerate limits has minimal impact on performance, reducing the resolution dramatically improves things, though with a noticeable drop in image quality. The PC is in excellent condition thanks to tools such as System Optimizer, Bitdefender antivirus, malware detection programs, and relatively small hard drives.
I’m beginning to suspect that my PC may simply be inadequate for smoothly running many modern games. Alternatively, the monitor could be contributing to the issue. I would greatly appreciate any advice or assistance you can offer.
Thank you.
What are the temperatures of your CPU and GPU when inactive and while performing demanding tasks?
Your graphics processing unit lacks the necessary capabilities to handle Ultra High Definition or 4K displays. To enjoy gaming at that resolution, you’ll require a more advanced graphics card. I suggest considering a GeForce GTX 1070, a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, or a GeForce RTX 2080 for 4K gaming experiences.
The GeForce GTX 1060 was initially conceived for 1080p gaming purposes only. It’s an EXCELLENT choice for 1080p resolution and lacks sufficient performance to handle more demanding resolutions.
