For anyone familiar with using OBS Studio for game capture or troubleshooting this issue, the goal is clear. Audio works fine, but video captures result in black screens. The files are .mp4, and VLC is used to play them. VLC is configured to handle mp4 files, which I've confirmed by watching many ShadowPlay clips with it.

The reason OBS is preferred over ShadowPlay here is that ShadowPlay isn't functioning correctly in the game I'm trying to record. Others have reported similar problems, but the suggested fixes—like enabling admin mode for OBS or setting OBS as a Desktop capture device—didn't resolve the issue.

I discovered the issue stemmed from omitting Game Capture as the Source.
