Hello,
After seven years of using an 8GB RAM setup, I recently upgraded to a 16GB RAM configuration, then moved the CPU from a Ryzen 3 1300X to a Ryzen 5 5600, and replaced the GPU from a 1060 3GB to a second-hand 3060 Ti. Yesterday, I swapped both the old parts for the new ones and booted the PC image—initially it appeared on the screen, but repeatedly displayed the MSI Click BIOS. I checked the CPU red indicators and confirmed the BOOT light was on, while the BIOS indicated both SSD (operating system) and HDD were detected. The BIOS update was the latest version.

Today, I reverted to the previous components, and everything is functioning properly without issues. I’m curious what might be causing the problem. I plan to test the R5 5600 with the old GPU to see if errors appear. I also noticed no bent pins on the 5600. Here’s my current component list:
- PSU: Nox NX 650W
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 1300X 3.7Ghz
- Asus GeForce GTX 1060 OC Dual 3GB GDDR5
- MOBO: MSI B350 Gaming Plus
- Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SATA3
- WD Blue 1TB SATA3
- Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 PC4-25600 16GB 2X8GB CL16

I’m hoping the R5 5600 will work with my motherboard and the GPU should be fine, even though it’s PCIe 4.0 while my motherboard is 3.0.

Check your current BIOS version. You are running 7A34vMJC(Beta version) as of 2025-09-23.

Did you refresh the bios? On several older am4 boards, there were various versions of multiple bios that had to be installed prior to the latest release. I would remove the new gpu to ensure stability and install the previous one, along with the old cpu and ram that functioned properly. Restore the bios to original settings and thoroughly review the update instructions for your board. You might need to flash the bios 2-3 times before reaching the newest version. After successfully installing the Ryzen 5600, you should experience a significant boost in performance.

I will check that. I updated the BIOS to the latest version, but it's possible I skipped some crucial steps.

I remember from my experience with the AsRock b350 that bridge bios were the main thing. You had to begin at the bottom of the page and install 2-3 different bridge bios versions before moving on to the latest ones. I usually tried to start right after the 1300 release, checking the notes for the first bridge bios available, then progressing step by step, following the instructions until it mentions you can install a newer CPU. After that, upgrade the bios with the new CPU until you reach the latest model just in case. Before beginning the flash, reset the bios back to default settings to undo any adjustments you might have made over time, ensuring they won’t interfere with the update process.

The required firmware is listed as 7A34vMHS but it isn't available for download on their website.

I don't recognize that one either. The 5600 was launched in 2022, yet I was checking the 7A34vMJ5 model, but the information on the MSI site isn't very clear.

Updated the 7A34vMJ5 to AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.2.0.7, which includes 5000 series support. Perhaps I should try that first?

For the Ryzen 5 5600, the BIOS on your MSI B350 Gaming Plus motherboard needs an update to include compatibility with Ryzen 5000 series chips.
