I’ve been thinking about my situation lately. About two months ago I set up a gaming PC packed with an RTX 3070 and other components. It ran smoothly for a while, and I really enjoyed gaming on it. After using it regularly for everyday tasks like music production, photo/video editing, and general use, I began to notice a growing discomfort with Windows 11/10. Coming from macOS, I’ve been comfortable with it for eight years, and I’ve also used Windows on another machine for about a year. I feel confident that the experience wasn’t as great as I expected. Looking at forums, I’m seeking advice on what to do next. I’m weighing selling my PC for around $1600 and choosing between an M2 MacBook Air or an M1 MacBook Pro, with the option to give any extra money back to my parents who supported the build. I’ve researched gaming performance on Macs and am okay with it (I don’t play very intense games). I deeply value macOS and its simplicity. I’m not interested in switching to Linux, dual-booting, or changing the BIOS—those steps feel risky in the gaming community. I also want to know if anyone has faced a similar issue, since this has been a real concern for too long.

If the games you play will run on Macos to your satisfaction and you prefer MacOs, then it's a no brainer for you. Sell your pc and get a MBA. I had a M1 MBA for about a month and really enjoyed it, unfortunately running an IT services company I just wasn't wanting to relearn how to do things that I've been doing in Windows for the last 20 years.

Your choice of operating system is entirely up to you. It seems you're already feeling dissatisfied and prefer a MAC experience without the complications of buying, returning, or transferring. Go ahead if that's your preference.

In my view, their devices with a dedicated GPU perform much smoother when running games and similar tasks. You're right to notice that—it really does make a difference.

Have you thought about transferring MacOS to your current computer? Installing a Linux system like Elementary OS might also be an option.

I prefer a standard PC over a hackintosh and avoid the trouble of tweaking BIOS settings. Appreciate the suggestion!
