I'm basically as ethical as pirates without being one.

The idea behind piracy is acquiring something without paying the original creator. This includes buying used items, purchasing second-hand goods, and even buying broken parts to fix them—all fall under this concept. Piracy benefits only the creator while ignoring the consumer’s needs. It functions as a form of monopoly based on entitlement; we should pay for artworks or products. Picture an art gallery charging £50 each time you see a piece.
I certainly don’t think so; I haven’t encountered any discussion treating used items as piracy, particularly regarding the products mentioned. Used consoles and gaming equipment have never been argued as theft, and even though digital media is more widespread, I feel it doesn’t reflect a real reason to prevent people from using second-hand goods. The only comparable example I can think of is Nintendo’s actions against emulators, which isn’t really relevant here.
