i opened windows msconfig, turned on all 12 cores, then went to bios and achieved over 4.7ghz. it ran smoothly at 5.0ghz, but the cpu-z and task manager showed only 4.3ghz. i have a power plan set to the highest level and still haven’t managed to overclock.
Refresh your update with detailed specifications of the full system hardware and operating system. PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition.
i can achieve an overclock up to 5Ghz when all 12 cores are enabled, though windows doesn't recognize the change.
in bios settings i can set the minimum cache ratio to 47 and maximum cache ratio to 47, but nothing actually happens in windows—it only works at 4.29Ghz
You might be right, but I went to msconfig and turned on all 12 threads. Then I could achieve my overclock above 47Ghz if I didn’t enable them all—I can’t reach over 47Ghz in the BIOS, it seems there’s a limit. When I disabled them, the task manager only showed it at 43Ghz.
There’s nothing in your description that seems accurate. It’s best to avoid overclocking your desktop. Consider returning to the original settings and reviewing overclocking properly. Here’s a coffee lake guide to help you get started.
Thank you for your quick response, I'll give it a try. I didn't overclock in Windows, just opened msconfig and enabled all the threats afterward. That caused the BIOS to detect my overclock, which made it exceed 47Ghz if I hadn't enabled everything. I'm not sure why this happened.
