Hey there! I’m just starting out with overclocking, undervolting, and BIOS adjustments. I’ve wrapped up a fresh build and now want to dive deeper into fine-tuning for optimal performance, efficiency, and stability. Here’s what I have set up right now:

- Monitor: WiFi, 1440p @ 165Hz
What I’m aiming to improve:
- Safe and effective undervolting for the CPU (especially the 9800X3D)
- GPU overvolt settings tailored for this model
- PBO/Curve Optimizer adjustments specific to the Ryzen 9
- Memory optimization — should I stick with EXPO or try manual tuning?
- BIOS tweaks that boost efficiency, boot speed, or stability
- Fan curve suggestions — I’m using BIOS fan control but want quieter operation

- This machine tends to get hot, so balancing temps is key.
- I’m not after extreme overclocks; I want reliable performance.
- Cooling is decent now, but I’m keeping it simple for now.

Adjusting the curve optimizer will remain consistent across all chips, whether you're using an X3D processor or not. More detailed instructions exist, but in practice what I've found is to apply a -20 setting for all cores—most chips handle this well. If problems arise, lower it to -15 or even -10. It won't yield the optimal performance, but it will give you a reasonable outcome and ease the stress of testing the optimizer (which can take hours on tools like Prime95 or Cinebench, but crashes even more when opening the start menu). I don't think it's worth the time or frustration to push further. If you're serious about tuning, dive into manual adjustments. For general speed, just enable EXPO and stop there. The other Ryzen models gain a bit from this, but since cache design aims to ignore memory speed, the benefit is limited compared to a high-end chip like the 9700X. A middle ground would be using the Buildzoid Easy Memory Timings for AM5, though I wouldn't trust results from a 24-hour stress test unless you're certain. The only setting worth checking is Memory Context Restore, which can significantly improve boot times—though it might occasionally cause reboots (rare on modern BIOS versions). ASRock and Gigabyte boards usually support it by default, while ASUS and MSI likely don't. Unless you have a specific reason, stick with the defaults. Consider using FanControl software for more control over fan curves; its "Auto" mode automatically sets fan speeds based on your needs. It offers a good balance between flexibility and simplicity, with solid performance for most users.
