I just moved my PC parts into a new case with a fresh aio liquid cooler. (Yay!) The setup includes RGB fans, but one feature still catches my eye—a breathing orange light on my ASUS Prime Z270-P motherboard. It’s been consistent for years in my previous case, yet I’m curious about its meaning and how to disable it. After reviewing the manual, I couldn’t find any reference to it. Notably, it remains active even when the PC is off, but powers down only if the computer is unplugged or the power switch is flipped on the PSU.
It indicates the motherboard has power, drawing from the constant 5V standby rail. Earlier models lacked this dynamic visual cue and displayed a steady orange LED, while modern designs often feature RGB lighting for feedback. Everything is normal.
