Certainly day Z keeps its own rules without a fixed NPC police force that would hunt you down for murder. It can be really annoying, but it adds a special edge to the experience. No other title offers that intense excitement when you raid a structure and someone yells "Stay back!" The trolls are always present across all versions with a competitive PvP focus.

I notice the UEE npcs possess significant power beyond simple push overs, enabling them to effectively confront pirates in space. This would enhance safety for merchant and mining traffic. The outer edges of known space, typically where pirates operate, would receive lighter patrols, encouraging more piracy activities. There will also be bounty hunting missions reflecting real-world scenarios. If you're a notorious pirate and I'm a bounty hunter, I could join the mission and demonstrate the challenges using just a cricket bat! This is my perspective on how piracy and illegal activities will function. The main challenge against piracy shouldn't rely solely on players; CIG must maintain oversight of key areas like spawn points and major planets. Overall, I believe it will reach a balanced state, though it will naturally adjust over time. For example, I have no desire to become a pirate even with impressive gear!

If NPCs offer rewards like candy, piracy should become a minor concern soon after launch. I doubt an NPC poses much danger to a skilled player—though that would be concerning if it did. What you're suggesting is that NPCs will protect spawn areas and similar locations, which sounds realistic. It would be impressive to see anti-aircraft fire destroying pirates in the upper atmosphere of a planet.

It's likely many pirates are beginners, so they'll stay close enough for the AA to catch them. The idea of NPCs being strong should relate more to better weapons and faster performance. This is military strategy—smart or advanced players will probably be insignificant, which is why bounties become important.

I support both @ b45op and @ Osmium. The NPC military or UEE police should be powerful enough to eliminate inexperienced players who just want to troll, yet not so strong that it becomes unmanageable. For instance in EVE online the police are incredibly powerful—any attempt gets you killed. I believe a balanced approach would work best: superior firepower relative to stock player ships compared to UEE ships, but average speed. This way, staying in battle gives you a good chance of survival, while decent engine upgrades let you escape if needed.

They could also opt for a Borderlands-inspired "Stay away or you'll get destroyed" approach to deter folks. Either option sounds great!

There should be UEE raids and similar operations. They establish blockades and shut down zones to try to apprehend criminals. I’ll need to frequently exchange ships. @ rucdoc, I’m going to have to switch seats with the White Rabbit at Alice's tea party near Terra!!!!!!
