Few noticed this, yet the iHotel machines in Linus' latest clip appear to be using Windows Vista. Isn't that the oddest thing you've ever seen, lmao? I'm puzzled why Linus didn't mention it during the whole video. While I get the idea of running Windows 7 or 8, why is Vista included among all the options?

Certain locations simply can't handle major system overhauls. My neighborhood library was still using Vista a lot, but they switched to 7 only in the past few years.

But they can afford to upgrade to the newest hardware? I get what you’re saying. My local school district didn’t switch to Windows 7 until long after Windows 8 was released, but these are brand new machines running GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards... Plus, compared to older Windows versions, Windows 10 is really affordable. I guess they have their reasons. It just feels a bit strange to me. Linus talked about how the boot drives reset every time the system starts. Could that be related?

Vista is disliked because it was seen as a major upgrade that didn’t meet expectations, leading to frustration among users.

The release was extremely poor when compared to the well-developed Windows XP, which caused many users to abandon or bypass it in favor of version 7.

They believe upgrading isn't necessary if Vista functions properly.

The devices shown in the video use Windows 7. Windows Vista lacks the visible large taskbar feature.

It seems the main concern is compatibility with older systems. The idea of a 10-only setup feels like a minor trade-off for improving the Windows experience. I think they probably didn’t want constant updates bothering users, which likely played a big role in their decision to go with 7.

it suffered numerous issues even with top-tier hardware back then—it was simply... flawed. the DX10 implementation was a complete failure, and most games ran sluggishly. at times the computer window would turn white, forcing you to log out and restart explorer.exe just to get it working. the biggest challenge was that it was the sole x64 operating system available in 2007 (excluding the earlier XP64 debacle), making it nearly impossible to run modern titles like Crysis, Vista, Halo 2, or Modern Warfare without constant troubleshooting. it was a painful experience, especially after just two years when Vista finally arrived—it was a real miracle, and the final version felt more like an alpha than a polished OS.
