Can I move Office documents from one computer's hard drive to another?
Do you have an Office app running? I'd like to know why it matters and if it works differently depending on what computer we use. Is it all the same, or does it run on a totally new machine? I need to be clear about this because everything seems complicated.
I fixed my old computer by putting in brand new parts, including a fresh hard drive for the operating system. Years ago, I bought a copy of Microsoft Office Pro 2013 and it runs perfectly fine. Now, they are asking about $495 to upgrade to the new version. I spent an hour trying to talk with a Microsoft rep, but she finally gave up because I said I need my old email address or password for the account where I originally downloaded the software. I probably should have written that down, but I forgot. When I tried using the new software on my fresh drive, it worked to download the files, but now I can't turn it on even though I still have the product code. Since my old hard drive is in my new computer, maybe I can transfer some of those working files to make it activate? Maybe I'll need to change some settings in the registry too. Anyway, it might not be possible, but honestly, I really hate paying for something that I thought I could just keep using forever.
But I can't turn it on. Is it running just without the right key? Or is it totally broken? Yeah, you need to keep track of that old license and save the copy. I nearly lost a thousand-dollar package like this! Almost.
