Hello, I have an A8-5600K (motherboard is asrock fm2a58m vg3+ r2.0) and I ran it with Over-Clocking at 4.2 GHz using stock voltage of 1.26 volts (turbo boost turned off, non-buffered memory at 1.5 volts at 1.1). I tested it and the CPU seems okay so far, but is this safe for the processor?

I would say you're looking pretty good. You're nowhere near your tMax and there doesn't appear to be any throttling, which would indicate that temps are too high, so all good. To go back to your original question though, my answer seems a bit vague. In actuality, if you increase your clock speed, without increasing voltage, yes it will degrade your chip faster even though you haven't raised voltage, because your processor is still doing more, which requires more power. Voltage allows your processor to have the power to use. But the degradation, at stock voltage, as long as your temps remain fine, is so negligible that you shouldn't even worry about it. Cheers mate

It's not going to break down quicker just because it gets used up. Things like how hot things get or how much electricity they take will affect that. If you watch those numbers closely, you won't need any more worry about the parts getting old or failing. So what is your temperature doing right now?

Hey Rambo, in AMD's OverDrive program, they say it's the top app for checking CPU temperatures. When you're doing nothing (idle), there is a big gap of about 50 to 60 degrees between heat and limit. But when you max out power at 100%, that safe margin drops down to roughly 25 degrees.
