Interesting development overnight. Returned from work and saw the PC sitting idle between 39-41°C. No adjustments, no activity—just the usual low-usage window. It seems the paste time doesn’t need much tweaking. Also, the game that worked at 60-70°C now runs cooler at 55-60°C. I’m glad the idle temps are steadier, but I’m curious about the cause behind this change.

Time updated... Following the 39-41c setting, it returned to the 50c range and remained there most of the time. My brother replicated the setup but used a different model (13900k) instead of the KS variant. I switched to Arctic MX-6 thermal paste from Thermal Grizzle Kryonaut Extreme right away, which cut my temps by 5-10c. To confirm, I re-applied it a couple times with the same outcome. Now I'm idling between 40-42c. My brother's K runs idle around 29-30c, but I realized he doesn't adjust his fans and shares the same AIO as me, which is set to full speed by default. Louder, but I also got 29-30c at idle when I tried it. I think Thermal Grizzly isn't effective for me. Perhaps I should be pushing harder and reaching higher temps where it performs better. It's possible I picked the incorrect paste version. Hope this assists someone else with similar concerns.

Are you considering doing it again? You've tried it multiple times without any change in outcome.

With the 13900K I found undervolting really didn’t help much. Starting at 0.05 gave me some hiccups, then settling around 0.03 was mostly stable except for occasional crashes. Eventually I dropped it because it wasn’t worth the effort.

Your current idle temperature is being checked. Have you resolved the issue?
