Hello, welcome to the forums! I'm sharing details about my new PC setup. The motherboard is an ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming. The CPU is an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, and the GPU is an ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 with a 10GB Gundam Edition. The CPU cooler is a Noctua NH-D15 Chromax, and the RAM is G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB (2x16) at 3600MHz. The case uses Fractal Design Meshify 2 with white panels, and the PSU is a Corsair RM850.
The main problem I've faced is that the CPU gets extremely hot during idle and gaming—reaching up to 89°C in Battlefield V, with idle temps between 35-60°C. My current cooling setup includes two front-mounted 140mm fans from Fractal Design Meshify 2 and one rear-mounted 140mm Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition for exhaust. I've ordered four more 140mm Corsair QL140 fans to replace the existing ones, but I'm unsure if that will solve the temperature issues. I've also re-applied thermal paste, which gave a slight improvement, though it's not significant enough to highlight.
I've attached photos of the system for clarity. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! P.S. I know my PCIe power cables are a bit disorganized...
Idle temps are acceptable, but when under load they rise slightly higher. Still, the CPU can use over 180 watts with PBO, so it’s possible to push even an NH-D15 beyond its limits.
Are you sure? The NH-D15 is often considered a top choice for air cooling, but these readings are concerning. Streaming could become risky if temps hit 90°C.
This adjustment slightly lowers voltage without significantly impacting speed, mainly improving heat management.
First, the Gundam Edition? It’s nice, but I couldn’t manage to grab one. Regarding temperatures, they look reasonable based on your room temperature—especially since BF5 is quite demanding and runs hotter than most games I own. Make sure the cooler is firmly attached and consider lowering the CPU voltage to see if stability improves at lower power usage, which could also help reduce heat. If that doesn’t work or doesn’t meet your expectations, upgrading to a 360mm AIO or custom cooling might be worth exploring.
