Hey there. I attempted to upgrade the BIOS on an ASUS B150 Pro Gaming AURA using the EZ Flash utility. I chose to download the firmware from the internet instead of extracting it from a USB drive, and ran the update. I left it open for roughly an hour, then returned to find the screen off while the machine was still running but extremely quiet. After another half hour, I noticed nothing changed, so I decided to power it down temporarily to check if it had simply become unresponsive. Since then, the system has remained unchanged. It won’t boot at all, so I can’t access any BIOS configuration options. The motherboard lights are on (both system and LEDs), and components like the CPU, fans, etc., appear to be active, but there’s no display output or sound. USB devices aren’t powering in or responding either. The error indicators on the board for the CPU and RAM only briefly illuminate when it powers up. According to the manual, this behavior is typical. I’ve tried basic workarounds using the motherboard’s built-in graphics ports (HDMI and VGA) instead of the GPU outputs, removed the battery to reset the CMOS, and shorted certain pins on the board to clear settings—neither helped. Even when connecting a USB drive with a working BIOS, nothing happened, likely because no power reaches it as the stick’s lights indicate activity. I’m considering a full BIOS flash using a separate device, but I’m not sure if that would resolve this. Have others faced similar problems? Am I effectively destroyed, or could a fresh BIOS save the system? The board is about four years old, running an i5 6500K (unlocked on a model without overclocking), with 1 GB RAM and a solid 550W power supply. There were no issues before the update.

It seems like the BIOS might be stuck. ASUS support can send replacement chips if needed before. Checking the on-board graphics and removing the GPU can help too. Taking out both RAM modules and seeing if the system starts normally is a good test. Disconnecting power and removing the CMOS battery may also resolve the issue.
