Hey there, I'm trying to figure out a tricky issue that causes Windows to crash. It freezes briefly and then restarts the PC without a crash screen. While it's frozen, you hear a hissing or buzzing sound. The problem happens while browsing, playing games, or just looking at the desktop. Sometimes it occurs a few times daily, other times not at all for weeks. It started about six months ago after I installed an older GPU driver and reinstalled Windows 10 (GTX 960). About two weeks ago, I upgraded my hardware—switched the GPU, PSU, and RAM. The issue is back stronger than before. My system isn't overclocked, and I just updated the BIOS. My specs are: Ryzen 5 1600X, AsRock x370 Killer SLI RTX 3070, 16/32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX at 3000mHz, Samsung 980 PSU, 2TB WD Green SSD, and a WD Blue HDD. I don’t have a Minidump file because it wasn’t saved. I’m in Germany, so power issues aren’t a concern.
Verify your hard drive and SSD status using Hard Disk Sentinel. Ensure you have the newest SSD firmware installed. Confirm your GPU BIOS is up to date. Check if XMP profiles are active.
SSD and HDD are functioning properly. The boot time for the SSD is under 300 hours, with roughly 3TB write and 5TB read capacity. I recently updated the firmware using Samsung Magician; I'm hoping this resolves the issue, though I'm uncertain since the problem persisted before installing the 980 SSD. The HDD and the second 2TB SSD also performed well. I reviewed the GPU bios, but it doesn't appear to be the cause, as I experienced the same issue with two different GPUs. I currently enable XMP profiles at 2800mHz. At present, I'm using only 16 of the 32GB, and the older modules are not installed—just the new ones I purchased.
