Identifying issues with the Asus X570 motherboard's 2.5GB LAN port.
Hello everyone! I’m facing persistent problems with my 2.5Gb LAN port on my Asus X570 Gaming E motherboard. The regular 1GB port functions perfectly, and I haven’t encountered any issues there. I’m running Windows 10, fully patched and updated. When attempting to download a torrent of Ubuntu, the 2.5GB connection drops entirely, cutting off internet access on the PC. This only affects this device and not other network equipment. The Event Viewer shows no errors, and rebooting resolves the problem. I’m not seeing any logs in Windows. Upgrading to a 1.5Gb internet plan seems like a viable solution, but until this is fixed, I’m hesitant about making that change. I’m currently using Unifi USG with two flex mini switches and am trying various troubleshooting steps. My setup connects at 1GB to a Unifi flex mini switch, so any changes would be relevant if I decide to upgrade to 1.5Gb internet. I’m holding off on the upgrade until the issue is resolved and the price becomes more appealing.
I am using Ubiquiti USG router. I have a Unifi Flex mini switch connected to that. PC is connected to switch. I have a Unifi Cloud Key Gen2 managing the network. The USG router is connected to a bluecurve modem in bridge mode. Here is link to router model. https://ca.store.ui.com/products/unifi-s...557b&_ss=r
The speed is capped at 1Gb, and all my network equipment is similarly limited. It seems the cable I used is likely Cat5e or Cat6, roughly three feet long. The connection currently operates at 1Gb regardless of device. I tried using a 1Gb cable to the switch and then to a 2.5Gb port, but it didn’t reach that speed. I’m trying to determine if the issue lies with the Windows driver or compatibility problems with my switch. The cable label confirms it’s Cat6.
