Identifying issues with POST functionality on a new setup
Identifying issues with POST functionality on a new setup
I acknowledge completing all troubleshooting actions mentioned in the highlighted post. Details include: CPU model i7 13700K, motherboard Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE, memory G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32GB (2x16), DDR5-6000 CL36, PSU EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P6, 80+ Platinum GPU MSI RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio LHR. After updating the BIOS to version f22 for 13th gen support, I performed a single POST, adjusted XMP settings to raise RAM speed from 4800 to 6000, and restarted the system. No further issues arose. Note: Motherboard DRAM and CPU indicators switch during operation.
Certainly. Here follows the process outlined in "read before asking for help."
I would reset the CMOS as advised. Then adjust your RAM settings for the proper delays, keeping the default clock speed. My Ryzen system experienced odd problems until I replaced the RAM with a kit from the board maker, which I also suggest checking for both the original and new kits. Even after that, the problems disappeared, but I still need to run my 3200 Mhz Patriot Viper 4 Blackout at 2400 MHz or it won’t boot.
CMOS cleared, completed all tasks in the Read before reaching for assistance. Still no POST.
I've noticed unstable CPU overclocks causing issues, but never RAM overclocking. The forum suggests 13700KF is compatible since version F20, though this remains a guess. It's possible the F22 BIOS might lack support for certain memory upgrades. You might find it tricky to adjust RAM overclocks with what you currently have, but restoring the F20 BIOS could be an option. Sometimes manufacturers make unexpected changes in beta releases, like MSI recently removing Zen 2 support from some boards. It seems some new models ship with these updates removed.
I've checked all the 13th-gen compatible bios options, but they're still showing the same issue. The alternating LEDs keep indicating something is wrong.
