I built a custom build for my dad using his old i7 2600 and gateway dx4860 board. I kept the same components except for the power supply, which I swapped with an OEM unit from the original machine. The system started up fine, but after turning it on, the fans briefly activated and then stopped without any indication. I tried different fans and even removed some hard drives, but nothing changed. Now I’m left wondering what to do next—everything worked perfectly before the upgrade. Any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks!

Try connecting the GPU and using the integrated graphics card. Unplug all power sources except the 4-pin and 24-pin connectors, keep the CPU fan running, and install just one stick of RAM. Check if the system boots up. Listen for any error signals?

I removed the GPU, left only the 4, 24-pin CPU fan connected. I tested each cable and it worked the same. The fan spun for about 1.5 seconds without any deeps or codes.

The device remains powered on and operates normally; pulling the CPU doesn't change its behavior.

I retrieved it and it performs the same function... Would you say it's the motherboard? What are your thoughts?

I used the same power supply. Try turning it on then pressing the reset button. Keep repeating until the motherboard boots. I’m unsure how effective it is on your setup, but it worked for my system. Just confirming I have the tr2-430 and it often causes issues at startup.
