Identifying crashes during gameplay, error code 0xc0000005, yet memory has been replaced
According to the description, games frequently experience random crashes. The frequency varies—some are rare while others occur within a short time frame. EDIT: Crashes refer to CTD events; serious BSODs or full restarts happen only once or twice when loading an EXPO profile. Without it, crashes still take place.
Additional note: During initial setup, I struggled to establish a stable EXPO profile, even though the RAM specifications matched. Consequently, EXPO profiles were turned off and standard speeds/times resumed. The RGB variant appeared in MoBo compatibility, whereas the non-RGB version I received wasn’t. I ran Memtest86 for several hours without finding any issues. Testing one stick at a time suggested one was unstable, causing crashes around 3 minutes into gameplay.
I swapped both sticks with a different set—Kingston FURY 32 GB DDR5-6000 KF560C36BBEK2-32—which is listed in MoBo compatibility. It seemed more reliable at first, but the problem continued, leading me to suspect RAM isn’t the root cause. Neither of these profiles (5600/6000) proved stable, so memory operates at default speeds (4800Mhz, CL40-tRCD39-tRP39-tRAS77-tRC116). Memtest86 on this configuration also showed no errors.
This points toward a possible issue beyond the RAM. Any advice for narrowing it down? To clarify: EXPO profile is off, memory runs at default speeds. Steps I’ve tried:
- Verify all drivers are current.
- Set BIOS to default, turn off overclocking (including Precision Boost Overdrive).
- Use in-game settings in power mode.
- Reinstall graphics drivers.
- Roll back graphics settings to previous version (537.42).
- Disable onboard graphics.
- Turn off short memory training.
- Stress test with tools like Prime95 and FurMark—no crashes or overheating.
- Replace CPU, RAM, GPU, and check power connections.
- Run Memtest86 on both modules—no errors.
Summary: Random crashes during games. Current settings: no EXPO profile, standard memory speeds. Possible causes: driver issues, BIOS configuration, or hardware quirks. Any further guidance would be appreciated.
Visit C:\Windows\Minidump to see if any minidump files exist. If present, return to the Windows directory and transfer the Minidump folder to the Downloads folder (use your desktop if needed). Compress the copied folder and include it in a post. Please adhere strictly to instructions since Windows doesn't allow file manipulation there.
These dump files likely came from the BSOD when attempting to retrieve the EXPO profile stable. The games simply crash to desktop without triggering a BSOD or full system crash. I've included this note in the original post. Minidump.zip
CTD functions without an EXPO profile being chosen. The post was updated for clarity. Setup is active now without any EXPO profile, memory operates at normal speeds, and CTDs appear only during gaming, not while working on productivity tasks. With an EXPO profile enabled, 6000Mhz profiles sometimes fail to boot, whereas 5600MHz profiles always start up. Occasionally, either profile may cause a BSOD or full system crash instead of the usual CTD behavior.
