Earlier this year my parents purchased a pre-assembled system from IbuyPower, which marked the beginning of my CS:GO journey. I soon noticed that movement and sound would appear in reverse. For instance, if someone ran towards me on the left side in the game, I’d hear them coming from the right. By 2016, I upgraded to a brand new PC with fresh components, but the issue persisted. Now I play every shooter available, though Rust and CS:GO remain favorites. Still, audio remains reversed during gameplay. I’ve worn Razer Kraken headphones for nearly a decade because they feel most comfortable when placed backwards, which seems to fix the problem. Recently, I built yet another PC with completely new hardware. The situation has changed on Windows 11. When I open Rust and join a server, the audio still plays backward. Despite testing various headphones—Logitech, Sennheiser, Razer, Hyper X, USB/Jack—I haven’t found a solution. Windows and YouTube are functioning correctly, but the direction of sound remains flipped. Even when playing Minecraft, the audio reverses. I’ve tried reinstalling drivers, changing OS versions, switching motherboards and GPUs, but nothing works. I’ve switched brands from ASUS to MSI, and even changed my GPU from Nvidia to AMD, yet the problem continues. There’s a forum thread on Tomsguide where others share similar experiences; they’ve been struggling for years without success. I’m left wondering if my perception is correct or if something deeper is at play. My teammate from Rust has spent six hours driving to my house just to test games, convinced I’m losing my mind. He confirmed the audio is reversed even when headphones are worn properly. My girlfriend also reported the same issue while playing games. How can this problem persist despite all hardware and software updates? It’s frustrating because I’ve built two new systems since the issue started, yet it remains unchanged. Sometimes I question my own understanding of sound. If the audio is truly reversed, why does it still bother me? This situation has left me searching for answers, hoping someone else has faced the same challenge.

This asks about reversing audio channels on YouTube. The result would be the video playing in the opposite direction, returning to its original state.

Sorry about this, I can't test it since my headphone jack is on the main output port of the motherboard. The new Antec Performance 1ft case has a mic/headphone jack on the front panel, but the sound coming out is very poor quality. Right now, my headset is being treated as speakers because of the port, and it only has volume control without L or R options.

You can still adjust the front port for testing. The audio connector should maintain its sound quality—it's merely a cable extension. There hasn't been any noticeable drop in quality. You might consider purchasing a USB amplifier or DAC from Fiio or Shangling for a significant improvement in sound compared to the built-in options.

Yes, I haven't moved any files between builds, including the boot drives.

All systems were reset completely across every version. The USB drive I used for the media setup was discarded entirely. Another user collaborated to develop the project, but the setup kept shifting between devices. A friend of mine experienced similar issues with his previous machine. He rebuilt everything fresh, replacing not just the hardware but also software like Gmail, Steam, and Microsoft accounts. He even purchased a new USB stick and attempted the Windows installer from his PC, though it failed. My experience began around the time I started playing CS:GO, possibly due to configuration changes. Another individual reported the game crashing in Left 4 Dead 2, suggesting community files might help. Today I returned my latest AMD build because of an event error 1002 while running Rust, which caused a crash. I’m hoping for a fix with a new Steam account or Gmail. When my upcoming Intel build arrives, I’ll give it another try—this is my final attempt to play on PC until then.

Read the article on switching left and right headphone settings on Windows 11. Follow the instructions carefully.

You clicked the "Click on the Balance" button, which opened a new window with sliders for the left and right audio channels. You're having trouble swapping their positions to redirect the audio.

It's the new year and the issue remains unresolved. I stepped away from troubleshooting but returned to the topic. I found a workaround using the Equalizer APO program and switching audio channels. A few more checks are needed: consider using an external USB sound card, connect the PC to a different power outlet in your home. I plan to test an extension cord from another outlet soon—possibly because higher power usage during gaming affects electricity polarization (just a guess). If these two approaches fail, I suspect the problem lies with Steam Cloud user data.
