Hello, my recent PC assembly is complete. I built an ASUS ROG 3080 Strix with a 10GB Ryzen 5 5600X and stock stealth cooler. It includes two 8GB Corsair Vengeance RBG PRO 2TB drives, a Samsung 970 Pro Evo 250GB SSD, and a Samsung 980 Pro for boot/OS. The motherboard features ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO MB with 9 fans, including a 6-to-lightning and 3-to-another node setup connected via LED to SATA and USB ports on the MB. A 3-way splitter feeds the PWM fan to Commander XT. The PSU is Seasonic 850 Platinum, paired with Windows 11. Everything is stock except XMP enabled. When I play COD WARZONE, the system frequently crashes and restarts, sometimes showing an overheat warning. I applied more thermal paste but the problem persists. Temperatures stay around 40-60°C, and the GPU performance is consistent. I’ve reinstalled the game four times; it’s downloaded to drive D only. Trying Gang Beast resolved the issue. Other tasks like YouTube or casual browsing don’t trigger this crash. This list comes from uncertainty—I’d appreciate any advice. Note: Fallout 4 runs smoothly on my machine too.

Consider using a PSU calculator since your PSU may struggle with the GPU during spikes. This is common with 3000 series units. You might also need an air cooler or AIO for your CPU, as idle temps above 60°C are problematic.

Understood. My setup runs at 38C to 42C, has 34 square inches of intake, six 120s, and the Scythe Mugen 5.

Hi, thanks for your message. Based on your research, 850 seems sufficient, but it's worth considering both CPU and GPU factors. Your fan wiring might also play a role—could be a contributing element.

Search for a PSU calculator online and enter the details. It will help determine your requirements—likely you’re either just around or might need something more powerful. Don’t skip filling it out; it’s not just guesswork. Usually I’d say yes it could be, but you mention crashes only happen with one game. Still, check it out. For reference, a 3000 series model is typically PSU compatible. https://www.newegg.com/tools/power-supply-calculator/

This feels quite alike to your concern, though you’re using only Halo Infinite and Fortnite while running at 5600x with a stock cooler. I’ve noticed that adjusting airflow might not be enough—your GTX 1080 could benefit from a more powerful cooler. It might simply mean the stock cooler for the 5600x isn’t providing sufficient airflow.

It's around 840 watts, right? That doesn't include fans or other gear.

Fans don't always react the same way, but when your GPU gets hot it can cause your PC to shut down. You might want to try a 1000W power supply to test it. It's important to use the right power supply and cables—using incorrect ones could damage your whole system. I emphasized this by writing in caps so you can easily notice. If you can provide a suitable cable, it should work fine.

That system isn't pulling 840, which site are you checking? (Honestly, look at the link) Most of these are not worth it. I use a 3080/3700x on an RM750, and everything works fine. Which model exactly are you having? When did you buy it?

your issue is here—have you attempted to launch the game in window mode? For testing, you might try running prime95, furmark, and hwmonitor together while checking cpu and ram performance. Prime95 for cpu and ram tests, furmark for gpu, and hwmonitor to monitor temperatures. Let your pc run at full power if it stays stable for a minimum of 20 minutes; your psu should be fine.
