I own an existing setup with these details: an MSI B450F gaming Ryzen 9 3950X, 96GB RAM, Corsair CX750M, and everything worked perfectly before. Recently I added an EVGA 980Ti. Now the system feels very unstable—graphics performance drops significantly. Benchmarks once hit 1-10 FPS. With the 980Ti it was smooth at 144 FPS in Black Ops 3, 160-170 FPS in Starcraft 2 (I don’t play modern games). The only changes were the GPU and drivers are current (fresh install on NVIDIA). I tried a power cycle, re-seated the card, and even reinstalled it, which restored normal performance.
Because the RTX 4070 is a low-end graphics card and the GTX 980 Ti remains superior, the situation is just a joke. For a clean setup, use DDU to reset drivers and install the latest verified GPU drivers. Jayz Two Cents offers a tutorial on DDU in his YouTube video.
You might want to test the 4070 on another machine to check for identical issues; if they occur, it suggests a problem with that GPU. If you don’t have another PC, consider borrowing one from a friend. Keep in mind your warranty remains valid. Avoid actions that could make the seller responsible and void the warranty.
