Hello, I'm seeking advice on resolving this system problem. It encountered the error message DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and ended with ntoskrnl.exe. From what I understand, this usually happens when the PC doesn't recognize what went wrong. I'm not very familiar with Windows bluescreen issues, but I've faced similar problems before—especially when running Windows Server, which was resolved after a BIOS update. Now it's using Windows 11. I found an old post about it and saw that it happened while playing My Winter Car, which seemed unrelated since it worked fine earlier. The system specs are clear from the HWiNFO summary, but I haven't run any memory tests or updated the BIOS recently. I'm hoping you can suggest some troubleshooting steps or clues to help identify the issue. If needed, feel free to share more details. I appreciate any guidance!
I've only ran into this when there's an instability related to the CPU or Memory. I'd start there, if there's any overclocking whether intentional or not (some BIOS's default to overclocking your stuff which is stupid), also make sure that memory is set to the correct speed AND voltage and installed in the correct slots.
Hello, thank you for your reply. It seems my CPU is set to stock configurations, which is what I expected since I haven’t experimented with overclocking. My memory is currently running at the Expo I profile and has maintained this setting for a long time. It’s possible I switched between Expo I and Expo II at some point, but I always adjusted it to run the memory at its rated speed. The memory modules are located in slots 2 and 4, as suggested by the motherboard manual for my board and most similar models. Edited January 2 by Kanna Forgot pics
Consider disabling Core Performance Boost, then examine the PBO configurations and turn it off. Execute a Prime95 blend test for a full day to determine if the issue persists or manifests differently.
Hello, thank you for your reply. I was exploring other options and found that the RAM kits I’m considering are in micron sizes. From what I read about users’ experiences, it seems there’s a lot of variation—some kits work perfectly, others have inconsistent performance. I noticed some reports of longer boot times with certain models. Adjusting timings manually appears to be a common solution people use, especially since the EXPO profile can behave unpredictably depending on combinations. Regarding the CL36 model, it wasn’t listed in my motherboard’s supported memory list, which might have been an oversight at the time. As for Prime95, I ran it earlier when I faced stability issues, but it didn’t seem to cause crashes; instead, it appeared more erratic or random. It’s possible the test didn’t cover those scenarios well. For now, I plan to try custom RAM profiles rather than sticking with the default EXPO settings, hoping it improves boot times and stability. I doubt significant changes will appear soon.
I've encountered the "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error when a laptop's removable optical drive began to fail. The issue stemmed from a missing screw, which caused the internal circuit board to shift during insertion, disrupting the ribbon cable connection. While I'm not claiming this is the exact cause of your problem (your system likely lacks such a drive), it suggests a broader hardware concern. Could it indicate that data transmission isn't meeting Windows expectations, possibly due to damaged connections?
