Both of us have Arma 3. When one of us starts a server, it works fine, but joining the same server causes both to crash and display "no message received." I have to quit then.

Consider testing a VPN to check connectivity. If it functions, the problem likely lies with your IP address. Proceed with caution—Steam may not support VPNs to prevent region restrictions. If possible, choose a VPN service available in your country.

A basic and outdated way to guard against smurf accounts and clientless bots was limiting the number of connections allowed from a single IP address.

Another port might work on one of the devices to fix this issue. I encountered a similar problem in DayZ standalone.

In BF2 I and my brother could play smoothly on two servers, but joining the same server caused issues.
