AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU evaluation & performance data – a new gaming and workstation benchmark from Power Gamers Nexus on Nov 6, 2020. Although many mention 3600 MHz as ideal, Steve appears to be testing at 3200 MHz. Anyone have thoughts or feedback?

Preferably I'd examine 3200 CL14 or 3600 CL16 XMP packages—similar to what works with Zen 2. Even better, dual-rank options like 2x16GB or 4x8GB would be ideal.

No details on timing or cache delays. Ryzen 5000 also works with 4000 MHz RAM.

many Zen 3 processors can hit 2000MHz on the clock, and peak performance reaches around 2133. For top speed you’d want a model around 4266MHz, allowing flexibility to lower it and match twice the clock speed. The real question is whether that’s worth the cost. I’m excited to suggest the Patriot Viper 2x8GB 4000MHz 19-19-19 kit more.

Going to 3600 adds little extra cost and is generally reliable. Beyond that it moves into the realm of showing off. It matches the same 3200 found in Zen 2, though likely only at JEDEC speeds—not enthusiast settings. Anything above that is overclocking territory. There are many forum discussions about people struggling to hit 3600 on Zen 2. Don’t expect 4000 on Zen 3 to work the same way.

Comparing the two systems, you'll see a performance boost from upgrading to 3600MHz over 3000MHz, especially noticeable in tasks requiring higher speeds.

Noticeable refers to something easily perceptible or apparent. It appears in benchmarks, but not always obvious in everyday situations. There have been minor improvements on Zen 2 due to faster speeds, though noticeable gains on Zen 3 are still pending.

I tested my memory at 2133 and 3600, averaged about 20 FPS improvement. It wasn’t obvious since I was already near the monitor’s 144Hz limit, and most games ran heavily on GPU at that speed.

The adjustment comes from comparing measurements at Jedec clocks to the overclock level. You notice a lot of 3200 versus 3600 settings, but it doesn't highlight that your system didn't begin at 3200. This means the differences between 3200 and 3600 will be smaller than 3200 vs 2133 or 3600 vs 2133... It's a case of diminishing returns, which they refer to.
