No issues reported with older laptop hardware. The concern about Windows affecting Wi-Fi and speakers seems unrelated to hardware age.

Crunchbang performed well on my previous netbook, but checking compatibility is only possible by actually using it.

Create a bootable USB using the Canonical tutorial on Ubuntu. After preparing the USB, enter the BIOS settings and start booting from it.

I put it in place. Now I need to configure the Wi-Fi settings. It seems the connection is no longer active.

I tried it and everything seems fine, though I'll need some time to get comfortable. The computer is not connected to the internet, and I'm unsure how to access the Wi-Fi settings.

Adjustments should appear in the upper right corner of the display. If your Wi-Fi card isn't showing up, you'll need to switch to Ethernet temporarily. It may function after installing the operating system.

Sorry, I didn't receive a response quickly. My understanding of network configurations in Lubuntu is limited since I'm more comfortable with GNOME, Unity, and Cinnamon. In preferences, you should find network settings. If you can't connect to Wi-Fi, you might need to locate the appropriate Linux driver for your card.
