Ideal Linux distribution for your antique EEPC 901
I just installed my old EEPC 901 with a 4GB SSD and a 6GB hard drive. Now I want to run a Linux distro on it, but it needs to fit on the 4GB SSD as an ISO file. It should have a graphical interface since using the terminal is tricky for me. I know about Puppy Linux, but its setup feels complicated. I’m familiar with Debian/Raspberry Pi OS and Tailscale, but I’m not sure how to get started.

BunsenLab remind you to install the latest updates. Current version is 3.16, no recent patches applied.
Debian is extremely efficient, performing well even on older hardware like Core Duo or Atom. It uses minimal resources, staying idle with only 1-2% CPU consumption. Everything you need is included by default, and the standard applications work smoothly.
Likely a previous release of something similar to Lubuntu, still quite basic yet functional. Around 12.04 it worked well on very low-end machines—like a Thinkad R30 with a Pentium 3 and a 10GB hard drive. Even with just 1GB of RAM, it was manageable. Probably only required about 2-3GB for installation.
