Idea for the Battlefront Beta
Idea for the Battlefront Beta
Rather than wrapping up the beta on October 11th with just basic bugs and broken mechanics, I think it’s important for the developers to extend the testing period so they can address serious problems like poor spawns and balancing issues. Fixing these in the early stages would show the player community that improvements are being made before launch, possibly boosting engagement. However, some bigger challenges—such as flight combat and sensitivity settings—won’t be resolved, making it more likely the rebels will win. I believe it’s a solid idea to demonstrate a commitment to quality. It would also be great to play through the game longer since it’s really enjoyable. Please share your thoughts in the comments, let me know if you enjoyed the game, and suggest any fixes you see. Thanks!
Wait... Dice beta, actually addressing issues? You don’t seem to grasp why Dice launches games in beta mode. You know, Dice doesn’t prioritize bugs. They don’t mind where a game hits the market. Do you understand what Dice values? Awareness. That single term explains why they offer betas for all their titles. Let your supporters try out the game a month before it’s ready, not to patch flaws, but to build excitement around its release. It’s similar to baiting the fish—make sure everyone is ready when it comes. Remember the BF4 beta? It performed reasonably well and had fewer issues than expected. But what about the rest? Every concern from the test phase stuck through to the final product for months afterward. Dice isn’t focused on fixing bugs or debunking myths. They focus on revenue and visibility. Those two elements are the real drivers behind their beta releases.
Purchasing items between matches quickly drains your funds. Jetpack mechanics behave oddly after hitting a wall, allowing powerful forward jumps or upward movement. The empire consistently dominates in hot zones unless rebels execute frequent self-destructive runs and the empire squad falls short by five players. The initial two issues have been resolved; the final problem reduces the Y-wing cooldown time excessively, which detracts from other design elements EA implemented, resulting in low replay value overall.
I haven't seen any obvious issues that reduce the game's enjoyment. It seems to be one of the most enjoyable fps games I've played over a long period.
It would have been great if the sensitivity was even more extreme when aiming through the scope. I’d have preferred using the Battlefield engine and detailed models, but instead they just applied Star Wars graphics on top. That’s understandable—they wanted something unique—but it seems they didn’t prioritize accurate aiming at 10% sensitivity with a controller. My scope still jittering makes it hard to compete, though I still get MVP.
But at the end it's just a bug or not? Star Wars, right? Who cares if I play it anyway. After all, games like Call of Duty 4 are the most popular, but people still ignore them. It was the worst game I've ever played—so why bother? Star Wars, what's the point?
This beta was likely aimed at preventing a rough launch and protecting the DICE Stockholm team from damage, similar to how they handled the DICE LA situation. They seem to be prioritizing a smooth release before addressing smaller issues like bugs and balance tweaks.
I was looking forward to it, but after testing the beta version I decided to skip the preorder.
