Hello everyone, I have three user accounts on my computer. One is a Microsoft account, another is the built-in admin account, and the last is a regular local user account. On the third account, all the icons have vanished from explorer.exe! This only happens with that one account. The other two are working fine. I've already tried clearing and rebuilding the icon cache, but it doesn't help.

Shut down your computer and restart it. Refresh the desktop page. Click right on the desktop, select View, then Show desktop icons. Alternatively, click on the desktop, choose View, and adjust the size if needed. Good luck!

Rebuilding the icon cache usually succeeds when icons are absent, such as displaying a generic empty folder icon. This isn’t something I’ve encountered before, though seeing it only on one user account seems unusual. Since imageres.dll isn’t showing up, you might want to verify your Windows installation integrity by executing sfc /scannow from an elevated prompt. Also, consider running a virus/malware scan using Windows Defender (built-in) and Malwarebytes. If those don’t help, creating a new user account and switching to it could serve as a straightforward alternative.
