They're not significantly cheaper now since decent brands are available... Nvidia seems to be investing heavily. The Gainward Phantom is currently the top-reviewed and best-selling RTX 4090 variant in Norway—it's an outstanding card. So, don't hesitate to try Palit, Gainward, and PNY Zotac; they're still solid choices today. I miss their classic Gold/Yellow and Black color options though. Let's watch what happens during Black Friday. A friend recently purchased the PNY 4070ti XLR8 (Accelarate?), and it performed exceptionally well—quiet, cool, and well constructed.
Yeah, the PNY 4070 XLR8 tends to be on the pricier side, haha. I prefer quieter cards; I once owned a 3080 Ti Suprim X, sold it later. As long as I wasn’t gaming it, well... That card was so silent... All the other 3080 Ti models I’ve seen in person were like lawnmowers compared to it.
Haha, I don’t like those lawnmower cards. My Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X felt more like a rocket ship! I like it when things are quiet, so I went with the MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 4080. The fans run at 30%-35% during normal or intense gaming and don’t make a sound even in the loudest settings. I’m sitting right next to my case. The GPU stays around 55-65°C—perfectly balanced between the Ventus and Suprim X, a bit higher than the midrange but not too much. I’m totally happy with my choice. Spending 70-90 bucks extra for a better model? That’s a small price to pay if it lasts me 4-5 years. 90 bucks over five years? Definitely worth it.
It seems uncertain about the GPU options for the 4070 Ti line. I might check the PNY 4070 Ti if a good offer exists.
Most triple fan 4070ti models operate quietly enough that it isn’t a problem. The gigabytes appear much louder than the others. The ASUS TUF OC and Palit looks are stylish, while the Suprim X stands out as the best choice but comes at a higher price. Perhaps check out the Gaming X Trio—its noise in this clip is around 60db, though it’s using its phone (not ideal) and with the side panel off. Despite that, it gets a thumbs up for its quiet performance, especially compared to the AIO fans.
