I9 7900X identifies as I7 7900X
Because the i7 7900X isn't available, it seems like a possible string error in the BIOS. If CPUZ correctly detects it, there should be no issues.
It's probably just a typo. As long as the PC works, and it detects all the cores it's supposed to have, don't worry about it.
CPU tests show the I7-7900X existed and closely matched the I9-7900X, differing only in turbo frequency—4.3 GHz versus 4.5 GHz.
@Wildy Sheverando shared a screenshot of CPU-Z. The details in the Specification section represent the model number Intel assigned to your CPU during manufacturing. This number matches both the label on the chip and the information displayed by the BIOS. The BIOS obtains this data straight from the processor itself. Here’s what the i9-7900X displays.
I've already spoken with Intel's customer service who advised us. They mentioned you're using an engineering sample and recommended contacting the point of purchase to confirm whether you received a sample processor instead of a production one. Please remember that engineering samples aren't covered by warranty replacement. For details, check their article at https://intel.ly/3UeodFJ.
