You're facing a serious overheating issue with your new PC. The system shuts down quickly, disrupting your work and client expectations. Since you're new to the ASUS motherboard setup, undervolting might be a viable solution. Just be cautious and follow proper steps. Let me know if you need more guidance!

I've noticed many folks dealing with this problem with the i9 13900k, but I'm considering a replacement. It's really frustrating paying a high price only to go through all this hassle.

What’s the situation? Did you install an aftermarket contact frame on your board? In nzxt cam is the pump running at full speed? The 13900k is designed to be nearly uncoolable by default. It was built for operation near the limits of top-tier coolers in a typical 20°C room with solid airflow. Since you’re using an ASUS board, which often supports higher voltages, adjust that accordingly.

I’m dealing with Lian Li II, five fans plus three more from the z73 radiator. The pump stays near full power most of the time. I have a bracket for my cooler so I can install it on an LGA 1700 motherboard if needed. I’ve adjusted the voltage down by 0.1 but it still reaches around 100°C. I also attempted to limit the temperature cap to 90°C, though it ran at 3.4–3.8Ghz on CineBench R23. Unfortunately, the program shut down after rendering completed.

It should have been addressed earlier; that’s why the core I9s is an issue.

The socket you used for the CPU bends significantly on LGA 1700, leading to poor contact and overheating issues. Many users have switched to a proper CPU contact frame to achieve stable temperatures. Regarding your setup, I’m assuming an O11 dynamic cooler? Or perhaps the LANCool II model? We can look at a picture of your PC to better understand the cooling configuration. An X73 chipset should suffice, though ASUS can push it higher if needed. The CPU performs well between 1.35 and 1.4 volts, and ASUS supports up to 1.7V.

It’s an older Lian Li II model. I switched off the "ASUS MultiCore Enhancement" setting to "Disable - Enforce All limits." This caused my temperatures to drop significantly, usually falling between 97-99°C during multicore tests. About six minutes after that, Cinebench would crash.

It seems like you're pointing out that the problem might be related to a contact frame.

I made some adjustments and it no longer crashes during Cinebench R23. However, within 5-7 seconds the temperature rises to around 99°C. Removing the front cover lowers the max to about 92°C, and I achieved 37.6k points on Cinebench R23. I’m considering trying the contact frame next. Thanks.
