So I have my i7 7700k, and I have it OC'ed at 4.6ghz and 1.2volts. And it no matter what I am doing it stay at a constant 1.2548volts. Is this fine and if not. Shhould I do adaptive or auto for OC.
Also when my computer is idle, the mHZ bounces from like 800mhz to 2000mhz at sometimes, is that fine, or is that something to worry about.
THANK YOU!

I'm also puzzled about why the voltage doesn't remain stable when you adjust it in BIOS. As someone who overclocks AMD systems, I can't confirm how Intel handles overclocking, but I definitely advise against auto-volting during overclocking. Doing so could lead to unpredictable spikes, like the time my Ryzen's voltage went up to 1.5V at 3.8GHz while it was supposed to be 1.25V. It seems normal to keep the voltage steady and avoid dropping below your CPU's recommended settings.

Contempt :
I'm puzzled about why the voltage doesn't remain steady, especially if you adjust it in BIOS. As an AMD Overclocker, I can't confirm how Intel overclocks, but I definitely advise against auto-voltage during overclocking—it could lead to dangerous spikes. (Once during overclocking my Ryzen, the voltage accidentally stayed on auto at 3.8GHz, jumping up to 1.5V). I think 1.25V is safe, and keeping the frequency high while it's not active seems unusual. If your overclock is functioning properly, you shouldn't drop below your CPU's recommended ratio. So it's okay that it occasionally jumps from 800MHz to 2000MHz, and 1.25V stays stable. Overall, manual tuning works well, and the range from 800 to 2000 is acceptable? Oh, what's the CPU set ratio again?

It's okay that it's idle sometimes, shifting between 800mhz and 2000mhz occasionally. And 1.25 is fine consistently. Overall, the manual seems good, and the transition from 800 to 2000 is acceptable? Oh, what about the CPU setting ratio? I'd wait for someone else to reply, since I've only ever overclocked on AMD.
