Great, thank you for your assistance; just one more thing—will the i7 2600 cause any bottleneck with my R9 280x? I’ve just placed the order, it comes with an SSD and 16GB of 1866 RAM, but I don’t have the funds for another CPU. Since I haven’t used computers much lately, I thought an i7 would suffice and last longer just because it’s labeled as an "i7". Appreciate your help again!

Not even minor delays unless you were using 2 x GTX 780s in Sli or R9 290Xs in Crossfire. Then you'd need to overclock, and that's the only thing. Even at normal speeds the 2600 remains a high-end gaming CPU. See Tom's hierarchy chart each month.

You can adjust the Ratio Limit on the cores for Turbo to all 38, which should enable a full-time 3.8Ghz overclock.
Edit: It seems you might not reach 4.2Ghz, but some boards could allow the 4 bins to exceed 38, achieving 4.2Ghz by setting multipliers to 42.
You're correct—this is possible. You can even set the ratio to 50, save, and exit the BIOS. However, these Intel boards will only use the processor's maximum possible ratio (38), and the BIOS settings won't be applied.
