I7 or i9
I7 or i9
the i7 or i9 models provide limited information. the first digit (or sometimes two) indicates the generation, showing improvement over time. the final three digits reflect performance, with higher numbers indicating better results. this gives a general sense but it's helpful to compare benchmarks from various laptops to find the best fit. the processor appears somewhat underpowered for 4k video, despite the high RAM capacity—240hz on a laptop is reasonable, but unless you plan esports-level gaming, it’s likely unnecessary. 16gb should suffice, and an ssd with 240hz would work well. if you’re unsure about any of these numbers, they can be confusing at first.
I wouldn't consider this laptop at all. An xmg core 15 paired with an amd 4800h and rtx 2060 refresh offers superior performance across the board, plus it's much more portable. The 4800h outperforms the i9 in every task thanks to excellent cooling, allowing it to run at desktop speeds inside a laptop—essentially giving you a desktop-like experience in a compact form. The rtx 2060 refresh also provides faster memory and supports up to 115w power consumption, making it noticeably quicker than the max q 2070 in most scenarios (only ray tracing is slightly better but not enough for serious gaming). In short, avoid the Legion and opt for the xmg. If you must choose between them, skip the i9; the Legion struggles with thermal management, and its display isn't ideal for color-accurate videos. This isn’t a budget laptop at all.
