X5675 tends to be the top choice considering its value. While most chips perform around 4.2-4.5, lower-quality options require higher voltage. Westmere-EP models also show improved IMCs compared to i7s, making them noticeably better than quad-core alternatives. For X58, unbuffered should function identically to other setups. Buffered or registered variants would need the 5520 board; I’m aware of that only one OC-capable board exists.
