Is there a reference for an older configuration? The ASUS P6T Deluxe with the latest 2209 BIOS to support the I7 980X CPU. Are you seeking base overclock settings for this board with this processor? It's a bit unusual that the stock AUTO settings keep the CPU core voltage at just 1.185V, but I increased it to 1.25 and achieved around 3.9GHz using a Manual setting of 157/156 FSB. Am I doing it right, or should I check other parameters for stability at higher speeds? DDR3 running at 1550+ is also on the list. Mushkin originally rated it at 6-6-6 1600 when I purchased it. Any advice would be appreciated. I’m using liquid cooling and CPU temperatures stay below 155°F as usual.

Don't consider XMP necessary unless you can't raise memory beyond 1066/1333 and still turn it on.
If vcore on auto could set the correct voltage for an overclock that's quite simple! Lol, it's just the motherboard doing its job, and manually adjusting voltage is the best approach.

Your CPU with a 980x architecture can likely exceed 4GHz on water, though I didn't want to increase the core voltage further. These are my current settings for that board if you have any options available. I'm not certain about the 2209v bios—are you confident that's accurate? If it's the same board as mine (P6T Deluxe v2), the latest BIOS is v1202. With the DRAM frequency settings I used, it was either just below 1200MHz or just above 1500MHz from memory. An 1149MHz setting didn't cause any issues with the voltage I had configured; it might be possible to improve performance with faster RAM or a slightly higher voltage if needed. I was satisfied with the results and left things as they were, as it continues to run smoothly. Keep FSB unchanged.

I'll verify the bios just to be sure. Your version being a V2 could differ, but I'll confirm. Appreciate the details, I'll try it out tomorrow!

It seems you're confirming the correct value of 2209 and wondering about the BIOS settings. The link provided appears to be for motherboard support information.

Hope you're comfortable with a 21x multiplier. I noticed this generation tends to prefer unusual numbers.

Why is XMP included too? It’s unclear why my MB on AUTO sets the CPU voltage so low as well... I’m planning to try it tomorrow and share the results. I’m not in bad shape and my benchmarks are solid, but I noticed others getting much better performance from the 980x and wanted to ask. Thanks again!

Individuals have been increasing performance by applying 1.35v to as high as 1.4v. For stability between 1.25 and 1.3v, achieving a consistent result would be ideal.

That's what I've been noticing mostly. Surprised that my Auto CPU Vcore is just 1.185, while everything else is around 1.25 plus. Thanks again for all the details—I'll try experimenting and find out what works!
