i7-9700k OC
i7-9700k OC
I’m just starting out with overclocking and recently boosted my i7-9700k to 5.0 ghz using this guide.
I followed the instructions closely, ran a few stress tests, and after idle temperatures stayed between 35-40 degrees.
The first test used AIDA64 for about 25 minutes and passed with a top temp of 72 degrees.
The second Cinebench run also passed three times with the same peak temperature.
The third was an Intel burner test on standby, which succeeded with a top temp of 80 degrees.
The fourth attempt on very high failed, so I increased my voltage from 1.3 to 1.325.
The fifth burner test on very high succeeded, reaching 93 degrees with temperatures climbing to 91 but staying around 85-88.
The sixth burner on very high dropped to 1.320, with temps rising to 91 and holding near 85-88.
The seventh burner on very high initially failed, then returned to 1.315 before repeating the same results.
I’m planning an OC test later today.
I’m wondering if lowering the overclock might help since the temperatures were so high during the stress tests. Also, what adjustments should I try to bring the temps down? Are these high readings normal for a stress test?
My system specs are: CPU i7-9700k, ASUS Prime Z390-A, GPU EVGA GTX 1080 Ti 11GB SC Black Edition, RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8GB DDR4-3000), cooler Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM, SSD 2 x Samsung 850 EVO, HDD WD Blue 3TB, power EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3 80 Plus Gold 750W.
The temperatures were generally normal. I suggest slightly reducing the oc, but during gameplay you'll rarely notice them reaching 90 degrees.
