However, you can't go beyond the limits then it implies your 9700k is not worth it. By the way, do you already own an i7 9700k? Edited May 8, 2020 by SavageNeo I was mistaken.

You're right to question that. It's probably going to get too hot because the VRMs on that board aren't great. Plus, you could try boosting its speed, which would mean losing a lot of efficiency.

Thanks for the details. I’ve seen similar problems elsewhere, which could slow things down. I’m leaning toward the Z390—MATX compatible and likely the top choice to begin with.
