I experienced the same CPU temperature reaching 85°C using just one tower air cooler. The solution was adjusting the power limit to 65 watts, which resolved the issue. I also managed to fix my friend's CPU by setting a 125-watt limit on a 13700 model—it worked perfectly.

it stays under 70 watts because the board is simple, and most of the time it uses about 60 watts to keep things running at 4.00ghz. i’m still seeing odd temperatures, which might be caused by air gaps from the AIO block being re-seated during setup.

They offer various sizes like 360mm and 120mm. A 120mm unit doesn't outperform a solid air cooler—maybe worse. With your room temperature, the 40°C increase is manageable, likely landing around the 60s at around 20°C.

A 120mm air cooler tends to be inferior to a 120mm liquid cooler, especially in modern setups. They’re essentially outdated relics from a bygone era when cooling space was limited. Those temperatures still perform well for a 9700k at 30°C ambient.

Need to simplify settings for lower temps around 20°C, but summer and 30°C aren't ideal. No benefit from keeping CPU high. Updated July 26, 2025 by thrasher_565

Even at high temperatures, it doesn’t matter. You won’t experience thermal throttling until you reach around 100°C.
