i7 8700K surpasses 5 5600X in lower 3DMark ratings
I have changed my setup from: Intel Core i7-8700K with 16 GB DDR4-3000 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 to: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X with 32 GB DDR4-3600 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080. When I switch certain components, I usually run these tests in this sequence to see how much improvement there is: 3DMark03 (2003), 3DMark05 (2004), 3DMark06 (2006), 3DMark Vantage (2008), 3DMark 11 (2010), PCMark Vantage x64 (2007), PCMark 7 (2011), PCMark 8 (2013), PCMark 10 (2017), Cinebench R15 (2013), Cinebench R20 (2019), Cinebench R23 (2020), PassMark Performance Test 9.0, VRMark (2016), Lost Planet (2006), Resident Evil 5 (2009), Resident Evil 6 Benchmark Tool (2012), Metro 2033 Redux (2014), Metro: Last Light Redux (2014), Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015), Far Cry Primal (2016), Final Fantasy XV Benchmark v1.3 (2018), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018), Novabench 4.0.x (2017), Geekbench 2.4.3 (2007), Geekbench 3.4.2 (2013), Geekbench 4.2.2 (2016), Unigine Heaven v4.0 (2009), Unigine Valley v1.0 (2013), Unigine Superposition v1.0 (2017), Neon Noir Ray Tracing Benchmark v1.0 (Build 85, 2019), V-Ray 4 (2019), V-Ray 5 (2020), Boundary Benchmark (2020), Bright Memory Infinite Ray Tracing Benchmark (2020)). I didn’t even reach ‘PCMark Vantage x64 (2007)’ until I discovered something was wrong. There are many benchmarks available. This task was primarily a lateral shift. Would you like some actual data instead? I anticipate a maximum improvement of 10-15%.
I see, it won't be huge, but I'm not anticipating smaller outcomes. I'll keep benchmarking and share the findings.
Running two different creatures on the Legacy benchmarks? That’s a big task. Most of them rely heavily on CPU power, but tweaking memory can make a difference. I probably crossed 200,000 points on 3DMark03—8700K and an RTX 2060. It seems W7 might perform better on older systems like XP.
