They look quite affordable considering the performance boost... and they seem completely safe. You might want to reapply the thermal paste, though results aren't assured.

Used the same CPU model with 4.7 cores, 1.25 cores per core, and experienced spikes to the 90s during intense stress tests. A decent 240AIO worked well, though I eventually gave up after seeing it struggle under heavy load.

Hm alright My friend that has the exact same case, CPU and cooler is only getting top spikes at around 86-ish.. we even use the same thermal paste. Aswell as he's running at 5Ghz with offset at -300Mhz. I don't get why my spikes are getting so high, ran another stress test and got 100 at the highest point.

AVX offset at -300 MHz? Your friend's clock is 5.0 GHz, yet you're seeing 4.7 GHz when AXV instructions are active. Can you run smoothly at 4.8 GHz with a bit lower voltage, such as 1.34V or 1.32V? Are you noticing the 97°C for the hottest core, or is this related to the CPU package? Tools like Power Viruses (OCCT/Prime95) push the CPU harder than games, and normal tasks are designed for that purpose. Temperatures actually stay more manageable during gaming.

When it isn’t just inconsistent performance or inaccurate readings.

That’s a notable temperature decrease with just the delid. Maybe I should try it on my i7-8086K as well. Did you install a delid tool and then re-seal it afterward?

I purchased Chinamate2 from eBay (not exactly named Chinamate2). It was a budget option, around five bucks plus shipping. I didn’t reseal it since there’s no need. It stays securely in place thanks to the ILM mechanism in the CPU socket—it doesn’t shift at all and feels quite stable.

I’ve reset everything to default and used MSI Enhanced Turbo which runs it at 4.7Ghz with auto voltage (max 1.350V). Still, once the game loads in Textures & Maps, it spikes to about 97 degrees quickly before dropping back to around 86. I’m confirming the 97 at the hottest core—though I understand stress tests push it further, but a spike to 97 in Flight Simulator doesn’t seem accurate.
