Hello, I'm setting up a new gaming and editing setup and want to safely boost my CPU and GPU performance. For the CPU, I'd like guidance on a secure overclock for my i7 6700k with Be Quiet Shadow Rock 2 cooler on a Gigabyte Z170N-WIFI.

Certainly, anything under 80c/1.350v is safe, but remember that more voltage leads to higher temperatures which can shorten lifespan. I prefer keeping below 1.250v.
It’s best not to worry too much about the CPU's life if you stay under 1.350v, as it should last until your next upgrade.
You can begin with 4.4Ghz at 1.200v and lower the voltage when it crashes, or
increase the clock speeds until it fails, then raise the voltage until stability returns.
I’d say 4.5Ghz is a solid upgrade for the 6700k, as it already reaches 4.2Ghz on the original.

Good luck with getting your chip to OC at the voltages Aladdad posted. When the 6700k reaches 1.45v, that's the maximum you should aim for. Stability at high OC or low voltage is essentially luck. I'm struggling to get mine stable at 4.6GHz without 1.42v. I'm using liquid cooling on a custom loop, and at full load (ROG Benchmark) my temperatures spike (I'm still adjusting). My room stays warm, so I'm okay if benchmarks keep temps around 85°C. There are several helpful guides for the 6700k—pick the one that fits your setup. I'm using the ROG guide since I have an Asus Mobo.
