Hello
My i7 6700 is still running at full speed even after stress testing with AIDA64, which is unusual. Should I format my PC? What steps should I take to stop it? Please advise quickly. If you have any tips on disabling it, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

literally everything you need to do is restart your PC. Or, if you prefer, press CTRL + Shift + ESC simultaneously and review your task manager to confirm it hasn't started running in the background.

My CPU speed is between 1 to 4% and my frequency is currently at 3.9-4.0 ghz without any explanation. Before AIDA64 it was functioning normally. At idle it was 0.8-1.4 ghz. Now it keeps running without stopping. I want to format my PC but I'm not sure how to do it.

It’s also possible you pushed your CPU beyond its limits. I’m not an expert in this area, but overworking it can cause serious damage. You haven’t provided much detail, so I’m unsure what steps to take next.

Have you checked the following:
1. Have you updated any drivers?
2. Did you install any new software?
3. Have you adjusted any BIOS settings?

Did you power off, shut down the PSU, wait a short time, and then restart?

KylonM shared his concerns about his CPU performance, noting it runs at high speeds unexpectedly and is not functioning properly. He mentions the issue started after installing Aida64, previously stable at lower speeds. He seeks advice on troubleshooting steps and asks about recent driver or software updates, BIOS changes, and power settings.

I7 6700
H170 pro
8gb ram kingston 2133
850 evo
No bios settings. Even fan at stock speeds. I’m having a shock right now. It’s brand new. I’m going to scream. I’m trying to stay calm. This is my first time...

My cpu usage is between 1 to 4 % and my speed is currently at 3.9-4.0 ghz without any explanation! Before Aida64 it was fine. At idle it was 0.8 -1.4 ghz. Now it keeps running without stopping. I want to format my pc. I'm not sure how to proceed.
🙁
It's also likely you pushed your CPU too much. I'm not an expert on this, but overworking the CPU can cause damage and you haven't given us much detail to work with, so I'm uncertain what to say.
Have you tried any of these steps?
1. Updated your drivers?
2. Installed new software?
3. Changed any BIOS settings?
WTF
Uninstalling Aida should be the first action.
The second step is just some vague words suggesting it's not a big issue.
Check your power settings—are you using high power?
Then look at the BIOS, but if you didn<|pad|>, nothing should have changed.
Uninstalling Aida shouldn't fix anything because the program is already running. The real issue is something Aida did (at least according to how I see it).

There is no threat or concern here, so just relax, this isn't a major problem.
