i7 5820k small overclock using the original cooler
Hello guys!
I'm streaming while gaming and noticed some minor lag in the game. Everything runs smoothly when I'm not streaming, but I'm trying to overclock my CPU a bit because of that. I don’t have a high-end cooler, just a stock Intel air cooler TS13A.
Here are my specs:
Motherboard: Asus X99-A
Graphics: MSI GTX960 2gb
Processor: Intel Core i7-5820k
Cooler: Intel air cooling TS13A
Tower: CM Storm Scout II Advanced Gaming
Ram: Crucial 8gb
PSU: Corsair CX 600M 600W
My question is, can I push my CPU to around 3.8 or 3.9 with this configuration?
The 5820K shouldn't be the cause of lag during streaming, and a 100Mhz boost won't help much. Identify the limiting factor first—review CPU and RAM activity in Task Manager, and monitor GPU usage and temperature with HWMonitor. It's possible your GPU is the issue. With a strong CPU and mid-range GPU, mismatched components can lead to bottlenecks.
it should definitely be possible to increase the speed by around 100 megahertz

I thought streaming while gaming doesn't matter much, so I chose a high processor and mid-graphics card. Also, when I stream and play together, my second monitor goes to sleep after a few hours of intense gaming, and I have to reattach it by removing the HDMI from the graphics card. It gets very hot, and even after stopping the game, the second screen stays on. Any suggestions on fixing it? Should I get another graphics card or replace this one for smoother streaming? Since I bought the computer recently, maybe it's still adjusting.
I checked the task manager and CPU usage was around 50%, with RAM usage near 70%.
HWMonitor displayed all the typical GPU temperatures.
I took the photo after streaming and gaming for about 20-30 minutes.

Regarding MSI Afterburner, it might help monitor temperatures if you're using it.
Your support would be greatly appreciated!
The screenshot indicates the GPU reached 99% utilisation at some point, suggesting the issue lies there. It seems related to the HDMI cable problem as well. Are you running both monitors in a Nvidia Surround setup? What resolution are they displaying?
I couldn't confirm, but I think there might be other forum discussions with potential fixes.
