I'm testing my 5820k at 4.4ghz with ASUS auto overclocking tools. I'm wondering if anyone can assist someone unfamiliar with the process to extract more performance from this CPU.

I’m having trouble enlarging that image, which means I can’t view the details clearly.
Most of the software is using a standard chip model based on similar designs—not customized for your setup.
If you try overclocking in the BIOS, it might help—likely you could reach higher speeds, possibly at lower voltages.
Regarding X99, I’d need to research further.
On a general note, a few videos should explain this; one is available here: https://youtu.be/Nj4ixZE7EWo?t=460
For a 5820K running at 4.4GHz, 1.25-1.3V seems like a good range... and 4.7 to 4.8GHz might be possible with voltages above 1.35V.
